{{/presale}}In 1986, the US Mint unveiled the Gold Eagle Series, offering 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold coins for investors, alongside a single weight in the numismatic Proof Gold Eagle Series. It wasnt until 1988 that all four coins, including fractional ounces, were included in the Proof Gold Eagle Series. Today, the 2010-W Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coins are available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 2010-W Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin from Provident Metals comes securely encased in a capsule and elegantly presented in presentation boxes, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from the mint. Admire the intricate frosted design elements contrasting with mirrored, clear background fields.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2010-W Proof American Eagle Gold Coins, marvel at the timeless depiction of Lady Liberty, designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Liberty strides forward, holding a torch and an olive branch, with rays of sunlight streaming behind her, and a ring of stars encircling the edge. The inscriptions read LIBERTY, 2010, and the W mint mark.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2010-W Proof Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin showcases a captivating scene of a family of American bald eagles, exclusively designed for this series by Miley Busiek in 1986. A male eagle soars over a vast nest, where a female eagle tenderly shelters two hatchlings beneath her wing. The inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ. FINE GOLD, and 50 DOLLARS.
History
The 2010 release holds significance within the Proof American Gold Eagle series. In response to the economic challenges of the Great Recession in 2008, the US Mint ceased numismatic issues in 2009, directing all resources towards BU Eagles due to depleted gold and silver blanks. The resurgence of the program in 2010 saw demand nearly double from the last issue in 2008.
