Highlights:
With your purchase of the 2010-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin in this product listing, you receive a coin that is in perfect condition. A coin in PR70 condition exhibits full, original mint luster with no detracting flaws of any kind present on the design elements or surface areas. The DCAM designation stands for deep-cameo and refers to the presence of strong, frosted design elements and deeply-mirrored, clear background fields on the coin.
Obverse
On the obverse face of all 2010-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins is a depiction of Walking Liberty. Created in 1916, Libertys image in this design is shown in left-profile relief as she walks from right to left across the design field. Her right hand is outstretched toward the sun on the horizon as she walks, while her left hand carries the branches of oak and laurel. Inscriptions read LIBERTY, 2010, and IN GOD WE TRUST.
Reverse
The reverse side of 2010 Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins bears the image of the heraldic eagle of the United States. This image has been modified countless times throughout American history after first appearing on coins in 1794. This modern version comes from John Mercanti and was designed in 1986 for use on the American Eagle Silver Coin. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER, ONE DOLLAR, and W.
History
Proof American Eagle Silver Coins are available on the same 1 oz silver blanks as the American Eagle Silver coin investors purchase in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coin debuted in 1986 and has been struck every year since then with the exception of 2009 when the US Mint suspended a number of numismatic coins to focus on its bullion coining amidst record demand.
