{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The Austrian Gold Philharmonic is a long-running series of bullion coins that has become a staple in the European market. Introduced in 1989, the collection includes both gold and silver coins that have consistently ranked among the best-selling bullion items in Europe. Today, Provident Metals offers the 2009 Austrian Philharmonic 1/10 oz Gold Coin for purchase online.
Highlights:
Each 2009 Austrian Philharmonic 1/10 oz Gold Coin comes in a plastic flip for protection. This release holds the record for the highest mintage in the 1/10 oz size, a response to growing investor interest during the financial downturn between 2008 and 2011.
Obverse
The obverse side of the 2009 Austrian Philharmonic Gold Coin presents the pipe organ housed within the Musikverein concert hall. Located in Vienna, Austria, this building serves as the home of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The main performance space inside the Musikverein is known as the Golden Concert Hall. The inscriptions here include REPUBLIK OSTERREICH, 1/10 UNZE GOLD 9999, 2009, and 10 EURO.
Reverse
On the reverse, this 2009 Philharmonic 1/10 oz Gold Coin displays a group of musical instruments associated with the orchestra. A large cello sits at the center, with violins on either side. Additional instruments in the design include a harp, a bassoon, and a horn, all arranged to reflect the musical culture of Austria. Inscriptions here include WIENER PHILHARMONIKER.
History
Originally released with 1 oz and 1/4 oz coins in 1989, the Gold Philharmonic series expanded in 1991 with the 1/10 oz coin, in 1994 with a 1/2 oz coin, and in 2014 with a 1/25 oz option. Coins issued before 2002 featured Austrian Schillings as their face value, but all coins produced from 2002 onward use the Euro.
