Obverse
The obverse of 2009 American Eagle Gold Coins comes with a depiction of Liberty. This historic vision of Liberty was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907 for the $20 Double Eagle Gold Coin. The US Mint used this design on the Double Eagle until 1933. It features Liberty in front-facing relief with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. There is a ring of 50 stars around the design element, sun rays on the horizon, and the U.S. Capitol Building at her feet. Inscriptions read LIBERTY and 2009.
Reverse
On the reverse side of 2009 American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coins is an image of American bald eagles. The national symbol of the United States, this design is exclusive to the American Eagle Gold Series and was created by Miley Busiek. It features a male eagle soaring over the family nest with a female and hatchling in the nest. Inscriptions on this side include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and 1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD 5 DOLLARS.
History
American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coins debuted in 1986. The most popular weight in the series behind only the 1 oz gold coin, the 1/10 oz gold coin is the only one to ever outsell the 1 oz gold coin and it holds the individual mintage record with 2.75 million coins sold in 1999.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies.
