The obverse side of the 2008-W Proof US Mint First Spouse Jacksons Liberty Gold Coin showcases the Capped Bust Liberty design. Given that Andrew Jackson served without a First Lady, the obverse features William Kneass rendition of Liberty. Lady Liberty appears in left-profile relief with a Phrygian cap. Inscriptions read LIBERTY, 1829-1837, IN GOD WE TRUST, W, 2008, and 7TH PRESIDENCY.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 2008-W Proof US Mint First Spouse Jacksons Liberty 1/2 oz Coin, Andrew Jackson is depicted riding on horseback in right-profile relief, surrounded by defining elements of the coin. Andrew Jackson, the 7th president of the United States, served two terms from 1829 to 1837. Before his presidency, Jackson was celebrated as a military leader, notably for his victory in the Battle of New Orleans. He remains the only president to have paid off the US federal debt.
