{{/presale}}The Somalia Elephant is now one of the most popular silver coins in the world, but that was not always the case when the program was first released by the Bavarian State Mint. Originally offered as the Zambia Elephant Series from 1999 to 2003, it was in 2004 that the Bavarian State Mint shifted the series to Somalia. Right now, you can get the 2006 Somalia Elephant 1 oz Silver Coin online from Provident Metals.

On the reverse face of the 2006 Somalia Elephant Silver Coin, you will find the image of a lone African bush elephant. This elephant is standing in left-profile relief at the banks of a small body of water as a mountain peak rises toward the sky in the background field.
History
The African Wildlife Series of Somalia Elephant Silver Coins features the African bush elephant on the reverse side each year in a new pose. The bush elephant is one of three living subspecies of elephant in the world today and is the largest living terrestrial land mammal. The bush elephant is followed by its cousin, the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant as the three largest living land animal species in the world.
