Obverse

Depicted in front-facing relief on the obverse of the 2004 American Eagle Gold Coin is Lady Liberty. The design portrays Liberty’s full-length figure holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. The inscriptions on this side of the coin read LIBERTY and 2004.

Reverse

The American Eagle Gold Coin collection exclusively features Miley Busiek’s 1986 design of American bald eagles on the reverse of the 2004 Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins. Inscriptions on this field of the coin include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 1 OZ. FINE GOLD, and 50 DOLLARS.

History

The 2004 release of the American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coin marked the second straight year-over-year increase. The 2004 date was a peak between two deep valleys of low demand for the American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins.
