{{/presale}}The American Eagle Gold coin program debuted in 1986 in bullion and proof versions. This was the beginning of an iconic series that took the world by storm and became one of the most historic American coins ever issued. Right now, you have the golden opportunity to own your very own 2004 American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Eagle coin when you purchase it online today from Provident Metals.
Coin Highlights:
Obverse
When you purchase the 2004 American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin, you will be treated to a unique design created by prestigious engraver, Augustus Saint-Gaudens. He is the genius behind the iconic Lady Liberty design and was commissioned by Theodore Roosevelt who wanted him to create a design just for this specific coin in 1907. The image features Lady Liberty in a flowing gown wielding a flaming torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other.
Reverse
The reverse bears an American bald eagle design created exclusively for the American Gold Eagle by Miley Busiek. It depicts a nest full of bald eagle hatchlings under the watchful eye of a female eagle while a male eagle flies overhead clutching an olive branch in his talon.
History
During 2004, the price of gold briefly dipped below $400, but then moved higher in the second half of the year. The price of gold began the year at $416.25 per ounce, and closed the year at $435.60 per ounce. The 2004 Gold Eagle coin marked a temporary peak for the gold bullion sales numbers after several years of growth. Mintages increased by small amounts for the one ounce, one-half ounce, and one-tenth ounce coins with a small decline for the one-quarter ounce coin. Overall sales of the Gold Eagle bullion coins would experience declines for the next three years of the series.

Each of these coins ship out in plastic flips that offer protection for the coins during shipping and storage. The coins each contain a 22-karat gold alloy that consists of 91.67% gold, 5.33% copper, and 3% silver.
