{{/presale}}Buying 1/2 oz gold bullion coins is now easier than ever before. Numerous coin programs offer fractional weight gold coins, as well as many other weights. While it can be challenging to determine which pieces you want to add to your collection, you cant go wrong with American Eagle Gold Coins. Right now, you can purchase 2002 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The American Eagle Coin program launched from the United States Mint in 1986. Since then, the mint has included 1/2 oz gold coins in their product offering. Today, you can get American Eagle Gold Coins in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz weights and bullion, proof, and uncirculated versions. The US Mint also offers four different metal types: silver, gold, platinum, and palladium. Each metal type features different designs on both the obverse and reverse faces.
The United States Mint began the coin program with 1/2 oz gold bullion coin options. However, both fractional gold weights have been introduced at different points in time.
Obverse
Lady Liberty is on the obverse face of these coins. In the image, which was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907, Lady Liberty is striding forwardseemingly off the face of the coin. The sun is hitting her back. In one hand, she carries a flaming torch. In the other hand, she holds an olive branch. This design was originally created for use on the Gold Double Eagle Coins.
Reverse
On the reverse face of these coins, you will see a male bald eagle clutching an olive branch in his talons. He is returning to his nest, where his mate and hatchling are waiting for him. The design was created just for these coins in 1986 by sculptor Miley Busiek.
Ordering
When your coins arrive, they will be in plastic flips that provide protection during shipping and storage. These coins contain 91.67% gold by weight, containing exactly 1/2 Troy ounce of pure 22-karat gold. The rest of the coin is made of copper and silver, which makes the coins more durable.
