{{/presale}}Before the African Wildlife Series became a powerhouse as the Somalia Elephant Series, it was issued for the African nation of Zambia. From 1999 to 2003, the Bavarian State Mint issued the now-popular African elephant coins for Zambia with the same focus on issuing new designs on the obverse side each year. Right now, you can get the 2000 Zambian Elephant 1 oz Silver Coin online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
With your purchase of the 2000 Zambian Elephant 1 oz Silver Coin, you receive your coins individually packaged inside of protective capsules. These coins are available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and mark just the second release of the Zambian Elephant Series.
Obverse
The obverse face of the 2000 Zambian Elephant 1 oz Silver Coin includes the image of an African bush elephant. The large, mature elephant is depicted in left-profile relief on a wind-swept savanna as the grass on the plains blows to the right. Inscriptions on this side include African Wildlife, Elephant, and 1 oz Ag 999.
Reverse
On the reverse side of 2000 Zambian Elephant 1 oz Silver Coins is the national coat of arms. The national coat of arms has a shield that, in real life, has white-and-black zig zags that represent the waterfall at Victoria Falls, where white water cascades over black rocks. An eagle is perched above the shield on a crossed hoe and pick ax, symbolizing the agricultural and mining industries of the nation. Inscriptions include Bank of Zambia, 2000, and the face value of 5000 Kwacha.
History
The African bush elephant has featured on the African Wildlife Series Elephant silver coins since 1999 when this collection debuted for Zambia. The bush elephant is the largest living land mammal in the world and the largest of the three living elephant species. The next largest is the African forest elephant, followed by the Asian elephant.
