{{/presale}}There is only one gold coin that has been available longer to gold bullion investors than the Canadian Maple Leaf. The South African Krugerrand was the first gold bullion coin issued for investment purposes. The Canadian Maple Leaf followed some 12 years later in 1979 and has become one of the most popular in the world. Provident Metals now has 2000 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coins available to you for purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase one of these 2000 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coins, you will receive a gold coin in an individual protective flip. The 2000 Maple Leaf Gold Coin is a great specimen to own as it still holds the lowest mintage in the history of the series, as of 2022.
Obverse
The obverse side of the 2000 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin comes with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. In this portrait, Her Majesty is shown in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem. This image is the third-generation design from the Royal Canadian Mint and is the first portrait of the Queen to have been created by a Canadian artist. The inscriptions on this side include ELIZABETH II, 50 DOLLARS, and 2000.
Reverse
On the reverse face of the 2000 Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coin, you will find the sugar maple leaf. The sugar maple is the most common species of maple tree in North America and the symbol has long been featured in the emblem designs representing trading posts and villages in Canada. Today, it is the national emblem of the federal government. Inscriptions include CANADA, 9999, FINE GOLD, and 1 OZ OR PUR.
History
Following the Y2K crisis in the late 1990s, demand for gold and silver eased significantly. In the process, prices began to fall and sales of many of the worlds most popular bullion coins followed. The 2000 date mark is the lowest for the Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coin. In fact, three of the five lowest mintages in the history of the Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coin came in the years following Y2K crisis, with the 2000, 2001, and 2003 issues among the five lowest in the series.
