Scottsdale Mint has recently broadened its Gold Cast Bar collection with several new options. These cast bars are made using traditional methods that give each one its own character, with stamped markings that clearly show the bars weight, purity, and metal type. Among the latest additions is the 20 oz gold bar, which is offered alongside new 10 oz, 5 oz, and 1 oz sizes. Right now, you can purchase the 20 oz Gold Cast Bar by Scottsdale Mint from Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Arrives in protective plastic!
  • Beautiful cast specimen!
  • Contains 20 troy oz of .9999 pure gold.
  • The obverse features the Scottsdale logo and identifying hallmarks.
  • On the reverse, the bar is blank.

Each 20 oz Gold Cast Bar from Scottsdale Mint comes packaged in protective plastic. This bar is the second-largest size in the series, with only the 1 Kilo cast bar being larger. Cast bars are engraved with simple hallmarks and often feature a less polished, more natural look compared to minted ingots.

Design

On the obverse of the 20 oz Gold Cast Bar, you will find identifying engravings arranged vertically. The crowned Scottsdale Lion logo appears at the top, followed by the inscriptions showing the bars weight, purity, and gold content. The reverse is left blank. Inscriptions on the obverse include SCOTTSDALE MINT, 20, TROY OZ, 9999, and FINE GOLD.

History

The casting process for gold bars involves pouring molten gold into molds, which are often made of graphite, ceramic, or steel. The metal is heated to around 1,948F (1,064C) until it becomes liquid, then poured into the molds with care. This time-honored process makes it possible to produce gold bars in a variety of weights, from small fractional pieces to large kilogram bars.
