{{/presale}}The Egyptian Gods Series of silver rounds delivers beautiful designs on the obverse and reverse with each new release. While some elements on the reverse carry over from one release to the next, the obverse is completely redone to represent a different Egyptian deity. The series recently restarted in 2020 with new designs from the original artist, and now continues into 2021 with another new visual. Right now, you can buy 2 oz Silver Sekhmet Rounds in the Egyptian Gods Series online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
With your purchase of the 2 oz Silver Sekhmet Round from Provident Metals, you will receive a brand-new silver round that is either packaged individually or by multiples of 10. Individual rounds come with protective plastic flips, while multiples of 10 are housed in acrylic tubes. The designs in this series are struck in ultra-high relief, delivering greater depth to the visual field and increased relief on the design strike.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2 oz Silver Sekhmet Rounds is a depiction of the warrior goddess in her human form. Sekhmet is a warrior goddess responsible for leading the pharaoh and Egyptian armies in battle. This is reflected in the bloody sickle she holds behind her back. In human form, Sekhmet has the body of a woman with the head of a lioness.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2 oz Silver Sekhmet Round comes with a vision of Sekhmet in her animal form. Shown in right-profile relief as a cat, she is seated atop a sarcophagus to serve as a guardian for the departed pharaoh. The only inscriptions on this face of the round are the weight, purity, and metal content in an ancient text, all of which read as 2 oz, 999, and Ag.
History
The daughter of Ra, the famed sun god of Egyptian mythology, Sekhmet is associated with the power of the pharaohs. She both leads them in battle as a warrior goddess and guards them in the afterlife. To symbolize her association with Egyptian royalty and power, she is often depicted with the Uraeus symbol. Shown above her head on the obverse of these rounds, the Uraeus is a coiled cobra that represents the divine authority of the pharaohs.
