{{/presale}}Though most Americans look forward to October 31st as a day of revelry for Halloween when millions of children dress up in costumes to trick-or-treat and millions more adults dress up for parties, October 31st also marks the start of a 3-day celebration among millions of Mexican citizens and those of Mexican ancestry. Provident Metals now has 2 oz Silver Day of the Day Marigold Skulls available to you for purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase a 2 oz Silvery Day of the Dead Marigold Skull at Provident Metals, you receive a silver skull that is in brand-new condition with an individual protective plastic sleeve. These distinctive silver skulls all have the same designs from Monarch Precious Metals, with colorized toning to help highlight the intricate Aztec marigold details of the skull. However, as a result of the production process, these colorizations come out with various combinations that can change from one batch to the next. As such, we cannot guarantee the particular colorization and toning you will find. Some skulls may have rainbow colorization, while others may present with rose gold colorization or black-and-gray toning.
Obverse
On the obverse side of the 2 oz Silver Day of the Dead Marigold Skull, you will find the 3D field capturing a human skull. The skulls all look the same in basic structure with empty eye sockets and nasal cavities, while the mouth is full of teeth and appears to be smiling at the viewer. Additionally, Aztec marigold flowers ornately decorate the surface of the skull. As mentioned above, however, you may find that the colorization and toning vary from one bar to the next.
Reverse
The reverse field of 2 oz Silver Day of the Dead Marigold Skulls is a flat surface with hand-stamped inscriptions. Those markings read 2 Troy Ounces, 999, Fine Silver. There is also a Monarch Precious Metals mint mark with a circle below the three initials MPM.
History
Although Day of the Dead celebrations as honored in the modern era can be traced to the arrival of the Spanish in the New World and the Catholic religions celebrations of All Saints Eve and All Saints Day. However, scholars have traced the roots of the celebration to Aztec festivals in honor of the goddess Mictecacihuatl. It is believed by most that the previous indigenous festival, which was celebrated in the summer months, was combined with the celebrations of All Saints Eve and All Saints Day to form the modern Day of the Dead celebrations.
