{{/presale}}The Fight for Freedoms Sake Series from the Osborne Mint offers a total of four different designs for collectors to choose from when buying silver. Each one is based on, or directly influenced by, a particular propaganda poster the US government used to build support for the war and keep Americans interested in taking the fight to the enemy. Today, you can buy the 2 oz Silver Buy the Invasion Bond Fight for Freedoms Sake Bar online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The scene that plays out on the obverse of these bars is reminiscent of the American, British, and Canadian effort to open up a Western Front against Nazi Germany in 1944 by invading mainland Europe in France. The D-Day invasion at Normandy featured hundreds of thousands of soldiers from each nation landing at beaches across the Normandy region of France. This successful maneuver gave the Allies a new foothold in Europe to press Nazi Germany.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 2 oz Silver Buy the Invasion Bond Fight for Freedoms Sake Bars is a depiction of what Normandy likely looked like for thousands of soldiers. As naval vessels at sea shelled the shoreline and Allied fighter planes buzzed overhead, foot soldiers waded onshore from landing boats through what can only be described as hell on Earth. The background elements of this side are finished with colorized lacquer and the foreground has a hand-engraved design element.
Reverse
The reverse field of the 2 oz Silver Buy the Invasion Bond Fight for Freedoms Sake Bars includes the image of American soldiers supporting one another in an advance. This design is used on all bars in the series and depicts one soldier firing as two others advance under that cover.
History
Propaganda posters were on display throughout the United States, in grocery stores, schools, and government buildings, encouraging Americans to support the war. One way in which Americans could directly support the war was the purchase of war bonds that gave the government cash to pay for materials.
