{{/presale}}Introducing the latest addition to the Egyptian Series of silver rounds the 9th design featuring the revered goddess Wadjet. Wadjet, also known as Uadjet, holds a significant place in ancient Egyptian mythology and culture. Depicted as a cobra or snake in an upright position, often coiled around the sun disk and the hieroglyph for pharaoh, she’s a captivating figure. You can now own the 2 oz Antique Silver Wadjet Round through Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Our 2 oz Antique Silver Wadjet Rounds are available individually in flips or tubes containing multiples of 10 rounds. These rounds are distinguished by their high-relief visuals that bring depth to the background and intricate 3D relief to the designs. The antique finish adds a touch of classic allure to each round.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2 oz Antique Wadjet Round presents the goddess in a unique form. Below her waist, she possesses a serpent’s elongated body, while her upper half takes on the graceful appearance of a woman with intricate wings.
Reverse
Flipping the round over, the reverse of the 2 oz Antique Silver Wadjet Round captures the goddess in her serpent embodiment. This depiction showcases a cobra resting on a ceremonial altar, with a sizable bowl positioned beneath the snake’s body. The figure is accompanied by wings in the background. The cobra, a symbol closely linked to Wadjet, represents her protective nature. Just as the cobra’s precision in striking was associated with her ability to swiftly defend against threats to the pharaoh and the Egyptian populace. Inscriptions includes 2 oz, AG, and 999.
History
Wadjet held a special role as a guardian deity of Lower Egypt, particularly in the northern region near the Nile Delta. Revered as a protector, she watched over the land and the pharaohs, embodying royal authority and power. Her significance spanned both religious and political contexts.
