{{/presale}}American Eagle Gold Coins are some of the most well-known precious metals products in the world. Each year, collectors and investors wait for a new release. These 1995 versions marked the 17th release of 1/2 oz versions from the United States Mint. Today, you can purchase the 1995 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
These coins contain 91.67% gold by weight, containing exactly 1/2 Troy ounce of pure 22-karat gold. The rest of the coin is made of copper and silver, which makes the coins stronger and more durable.
Obverse
Lady Liberty is seen on the obverse face of these coins. In the image, she is seen with the sun at her back and she walks away from the Capitol building in Washington D.C. She carries both an olive branch and a flaming torch. This design was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907 for use on the Gold Double Eagle Coins that were released the same year.
Reverse
On the reverse is sculptor Miley Busieks bald eagle family design that showcases a large male carrying an olive branch in his talons. In the image, he is returning to his nest where his mate and hatchling are waiting for him. This image was designed specifically for use on American Gold Eagle Coins in 1986.
History
The American Eagle Coin program launched in 1986. The United States Mint launched the series with a smaller selection of sizes, including these 1/2 oz coins. Over subsequent years, other fractional sizes were added to the lineup.
Today, you can purchase American Gold Eagle Coins in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold versions. There are bullion, proof, and uncirculated versions of each of these coins, as well. The US Mint also offers American Eagles in silver, platinum, and palladium, with each metal type offering different designs on both the obverse and reverse faces.
