For the 1994 coin, the Philadelphia Mint has collaborated with coin designer Adolph A. Weinman. The 1994-P Proof American Silver Eagle 1 oz Coin NGC PF69 UCAM can be purchased online right now from Provident Metals.
Coin Highlights:
The 1994-P Proof American Silver Eagle 1 oz Coin NGC PF69 UCAM has received a PF69 grading from the NGC and has been minted in 99.9% fine silver. The PF69 grading means that the 1994 coin is nearly perfect but does have a maximum of three minor imperfections. This coin also includes an ultra-cameo (UCAM) finish. The UCAM finish gives the background of the coin a mirror-like quality, while the frost design appears to float above the coins surface. Even with some imperfections, the 1994 coin still keeps its original mint luster.
Obverse
The obverse of the 1994-P Proof American Silver Eagle 1 oz Coin NGC PF69 UCAM features Adolph A. Weinmans design of Lady Liberty. She is draped with an American flag, and as she walks along proudly, the sun begins to rise in the distance. The obverse also includes the coins year, the word LIBERTY, and the famous U.S. motto IN GOD WE TRUST.
Reverse
The reverse of the 1994-P Proof American Silver Eagle 1 oz Coin NGC PF69 UCAM includes a heraldic eagle sitting underneath 13 small stars, each representing one of the original 13 colonies. The reverse of the 1994 coin also includes its weight and purity, the Philadelphia Mints P mint mark, and the text UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
History
The American Silver Eagle coin series has gained large popularity and continues to be desired by coin collectors everywhere. This series is so popular that the United States Mint is unable to keep its production levels matching the consumer demand. The American Silver Eagle coin series was created in 1986 after the U.S. government wanted to sell silver from the Defense National Stockpile.
In 2002, legislation permitted the U.S. government to purchase silver on the open market.
