{{/presale}}Proof American Eagle Silver Coins are immensely popular with collectors. The coins are issued annually by the United States Mint with the 2009 coin as the only missing date mark since 1986. Mintage figures for the Proof American Eagles can vary drastically from one year to the next, and certainly from one era to the next. In the early years of availability, the 1992 coin emerged as one of a handful that would become a modern scarcity for collectors. Provident Metals currently has 1992-S Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins available to you online in near-perfect condition.
Highlights:
When you purchase the 1992-S Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin in this Provident Metals listing, you will receive an item graded in near-perfect condition by the PCGS. A PR69 coin showcases full, original mint luster with no more than two minor detracting flaws present. Acceptable flaws at this grade level are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines only and must be located outside of the primary focal points of the coin. The included DCAM designation is for proof coins that possess strong, frosted designs and deeply-mirrored, clear fields.
Obverse
The obverse of 1992-S Proof American Eagle Silver Coins comes with a depiction of Walking Liberty. This design from 1916 was created by Adolph A. Weinman and features Liberty in left-profile relief walking across the landscape on the coins surface. She is shown with the American flag draped around her figure while carrying the branches of oak and laurel in her left hand. Inscriptions on this side include Liberty, In God We Trust, and 1992.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 1992-S Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin is the heraldic eagle of the United States. The most recent iteration of this design, the national emblem was created for this collection by John Mercanti. It depicts a bald eagle in front-facing relief with wings raised as it supports the US national shield. Its talons clutch the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. There is a triangular cluster of 13 stars over its head and a banner through its beak that reads E Pluribus Unum. Other inscriptions read United States of America, 1 oz. Fine Silver One Dollar, and the S mint mark of the San Francisco Mint.
History
The 1992 coin was the first Proof American Eagle Silver Coin to drop below 500,000 in mintage. Its 498,654-coin mintage remains the sixth-lowest in program history and was the final release of the traditional Proof American Eagle at the San Francisco Mint. Production moved to the Philadelphia Mint from 1993 to 2000 and has been at the West Point Mint since 2001.
