{{/presale}}Collectors and investors of bullion products from across the globe continue to collect American Gold Eagle Coins, making this collection incredibly renowned. The lifespan of this series started back in the 1980s, and since then, the production of multiple weight denominations has been added to the series. Each coin in this series not only features incredible designs, but they also highlight a true piece of American history. Now, the 1991 Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coin can be purchased right here from Provident Metals.
Coin Highlights:
Struck in 22 karats of actual gold content, the 1991 Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coin is actually made with a perfect metal balance of 91.67% gold, 5.33% copper, and 3% silver. This coin release also includes a special proof finish, which means that each design shows as frosted, while the backgrounds on the obverse and reverse are mirrored. When you make a purchase from Provident Metals, your coin will arrive in a plastic capsule that’s been enclosed within a special presentation box.
History
First introduced by the United States Mint in 1986, the American Eagle Gold Coin has been a cherished piece of bullion history. It wasn’t until 1988 that this coin was minted in a 1/4 ounce weight denomination by the Philadelphia Mint. The P mint mark that has been included on one side of the coin indicates that this coin originates from the Philadelphia location. However, in 1993, the production of this specific weight denomination was transitioned from the Philadelphia Mint to the West Point Mint location.
Obverse
A special image of Lady Liberty is shown on the obverse of the 1991 Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coin. This image, which was adapted from the Gold Double Eagle design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, features Lady Liberty walking triumphantly forward with one arm holding an olive branch and the other carrying a torch. Behind her, multiple sun rays extend out into the distance.
Reverse
An eagle design created by artist Miley Busiek is featured on the reverse of the 1991 Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coin. In this image, a male eagle is shown flying overhead and carrying an olive branch in its talons toward a nest. Within the nest, a female eagle waits with her eaglets. The purity, weight, and value of the coin are also shown on the reverse, as well as the country of origin.
