{{/presale}}At Provident Metals, we’re thrilled to offer you the captivating 1991 Chinese Panda 1 oz Silver Coins. These coins have a storied past, originating from the Chinese Mint in 1983 but only becoming available as BU specimens for investors in 1989. The 1991 release marked a significant milestone as the first 1 Troy oz .999 pure silver coin in the Silver Panda series. Each year, these coins unveil a fresh image of the beloved Giant Panda on the obverse side.
Highlights:
These 1991 Chinese Panda 1 oz Silver Coins, available at Provident Metals, are encapsulated for preservation. This particular year’s issue is known as the Large Date issue, minted by the esteemed Shanghai Mint. The term “Large Date” refers to the prominent numerals representing the year 1991 on the reverse of the coin.
Obverse
On the obverse side of these 1991 Chinese Panda Silver Coins, you’ll discover an endearing portrayal of a seated panda savoring its bamboo meal. Giant Pandas rely heavily on bamboo for sustenance, with bamboo constituting nearly all of their diet. Their unique adaptations, including a pseudo-thumb formed from an enlarged wrist bone, aid in efficiently gripping and stripping bamboo. Inscriptions read 10 (Yuan), .999, and 1 OZ AG.
Reverse
Flipping the 1991 Panda 1 oz Silver Coin reveals the iconic image of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests on the reverse side. This magnificent structure, built in the early 15th century, serves as the central edifice within the Temple of Heaven Complex, a significant Taoist religious site in Beijing. The nation of issue and 1991 date are engraved on this side.
History
Pandas seek shelter and rest in dens or hollow trees during the day, typically located within their territory. These dens provide protection from harsh weather conditions and potential predators.
