{{/presale}}The United States Mint is known for producing some beautiful coins, which draw both collectors and investors. Every year, the American Eagle Gold Coin is released with the same design, and people are still flocking to add them to their collections. Right now, you can get your very own 1990 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin directly from Provident Metals!
Highlights:
These coins each contain 91.67% gold by weight, which means that each coin has exactly 1/2 Troy ounce of pure 22-karat gold. Silver and copper are added to the gold, which provides extra strength and durability.
Obverse
Lady Liberty is featured on the obverse. In the image, she is shown as she walks away from the United States Capitol building in Washington D.C. The sun is hitting her back, and she is carrying both an olive branch and a large flaming torch. This design was originally featured on the Gold Double Eagle Coins that were released in 19007. It was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
Reverse
The reverse image is sculptor Miley Busieks bald eagle family design. This design was made just for these coins in 1986, and they show a large male eagle returning to his family nest. He has an olive branch in his talons. A female and hatchling are waiting for him to return to the nest.
History
The American Eagle Coin program began in 1986. The United States Mint started the program with just a few options at launch, but today, there are four different sizes for the gold coins and three different finishes, including proof, bullion, and uncirculated (or burnished) finishes.
The mint has also created American Eagles in three additional metal types: silver, platinum, and palladium. These metal types each feature a unique design with the same Americana-focused themes as the gold version.
