{{/presale}}The American Eagle Silver Coins are issued each year by the United States Mint. While the collectible versions of the coin have some limited interruptions in production since 1986, the BU American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin has been struck each year since 1986, with two different versions of the BU coin offered in 2021 as the US Mint transitioned to a new reverse design. Today, you have the chance to buy certified 1986-2022 American Eagle Silver 38-Coin Sets online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins come in BU, Proof, and Burnished coins. The Proof coins have been available since 1986, but were not issued in 2009. The Burnished coin was introduced in 2006, but not struck in 2009 or 2010. The BU coin has been available every year since 1986 and allows for the combination of complete sets such as these 1986-2022 American Eagle Silver 38-Coin Sets.
Obverse
On the obverse of each coin in the 1986-2022 American Eagle Silver 38-Coin Set is Walking Liberty. First used on the US half dollar from 1916 to 1947, this design from Adolph A. Weinman shows the full-length figure of Liberty as she strides toward the sun as it crests a mountain on the horizon. The inscriptions on this side of the coin include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the individual date mark of each coin.
Reverse
The reverse face of the coins in the 1986-2022 American Eagle Silver 38-Coin Sets comes with one of two images. The coins dated 1986 through 2021 (Type 1) feature the heraldic eagle from John Mercanti. The 2021 (Type 2) and 2022 coins feature the new image of an American bald eagle in flight as designed by Emily Damstra. Though the arrangement is different, the inscriptions are all the same on this side and include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER, and ONE DOLLAR.
History
The transition from the original reverse design to the new reverse design came in mid-2021. The decision to change the designs in 2021 coincided with the 35th anniversary of the series.
