{{/presale}}Many of Americas modern bullion coin designs are not new to American coinage, but instead, are simply revitalized images from a bygone era of impressive American coin designs. The modern American Eagle and American Buffalo coins from the US Mint boast images created between 1907 and 1916, with the Walking Liberty design from Adolph A. Weinman among them. Right now, you can purchase certified 1945-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar Silver Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
With your purchase of the 1945-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar Silver Coin in this Provident Metals listing, you will receive a coin that is certified Mint State 63. Coins in this condition exhibit an impaired mint luster, with the potential for several small contact marks, a smaller number of heavier contact marks, and small hairlines that are visible on the coins field without the aid of magnification.
Obverse
The obverse side of 1945 Walking Liberty Half Dollar coins comes with a depiction of Lady Liberty. Known as Walking Liberty, this 1916 design from Adolph A. Weinman captures her figure in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun on the horizon. She is draped in the American flag and carries branches of oak and laurel in her left hand. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 1945.
Reverse
On the reverse field of 1945-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar Silver coins is an image of the American bald eagle. This left-profile relief shows the bird perched at the edge of a rockface as it raises its wings behind its frame and clutches a sapling in its talons. The inscriptions on this side read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, HALF DOLLAR, and the D mint mark of the Denver Mint.
History
This design from Adolph A. Weinman replaced the Barber Coinage portrait of Liberty. Walking Liberty would feature on the half dollar from 1916 to 1947, and in 1986 was revived by the US Mint for use on the American Eagle Silver bullion coin series.
