History
In 1924, the US Mint struck more Gold Double Eagles than in any previous year for the Saint-Gaudens design. Three branch mints struck the coins in 1924: Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco. Mintage figures were fairly level between the three, with Philadelphia issuing the most at 4,323,500 and San Francisco the fewest at 2,927,500.
