From 1838 to 1907, the US Mints Liberty Head Eagle Coin, a $10 gold piece, became the longest-running design in the Eagle series. Created by Christian Gobrecht, the 3rd Chief Engraver of the US Mint, the Liberty Head design was used on the $10, $5, and $2.50 coins, with the $10 Liberty Gold Eagle being minted the longest. Now, 1907 $10 Liberty Eagle Gold Coins are available in certified condition from Provident Metals.

On the obverse side of the 1907 Liberty Eagle Gold Coin, youll see a left-profile portrait of Lady Liberty. Created by Christian Gobrecht, she is shown with a coronet crown, surrounded by 13 stars, and the coins issue year is below. Inscriptions read LIBERTY and 1907.

Reverse

The reverse of the 1907 $10 Liberty Eagle Coin features a depiction of the heraldic eagle. The bald eagle holds the national shield in front of its body, while clutching arrows and an olive branch in its talons. A banner with the national motto appears above the eagle, identifying these as Type II coins. The inscriptions here read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and TEN D.

History

In 1907, the US Mint was in the process of replacing Christian Gobrechts Liberty Head design with Augustus Saint-Gaudens Indian Head design. Both designs were minted during this year, with Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco striking the final Liberty Head Eagles. Philadelphia Mint coins have no mint mark, while Denver and San Francisco coins bear D and S marks.
