{{/presale}}The Morgan Silver Dollar was produced by the United States Mint between 1878 and 1904, with a final issue in 1921. The New Orleans Mint was one of the main facilities for these coins, managing to produce them consistently while missing only two dates in the series. You can currently find the 1902-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coins available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 1902-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coin is offered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. These coins are individually packaged in protective plastic flips, and if you purchase multiples, sets of 20 coins will ship in protective tubes.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 1902-O Morgan Dollar, you will see the design of Lady Liberty created by George T. Morgan. This design depicts Liberty in left-profile relief, adorned with a Phrygian cap, a coronet crown, and a laurel wreath. A ring of 13 stars and the date encircle her image. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and 1902.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 1902-O Morgan Silver Dollar features the heraldic eagle. This design showcases the American bald eagle in a front-facing position with its wings extended, clutching arrows of war in one talon and an olive branch of peace in the other. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, ONE DOLLAR, and the O mint mark.
History
The New Orleans Mint has a notable history in producing the Morgan Silver Dollar. Minting took place annually from 1878 to 1904, and after a 17-year hiatus in silver dollar production, the series made a comeback for one last year in 1921. The New Orleans Mint struck coins every year from 1879 to 1904, reopening after the Civil War in 1879, but it closed its doors in 1909, which meant it was not involved in the first minting in 1878 or the last in 1921.
