Obverse

The obverse showcases George T. Morgan’s iconic Lady Liberty design in left-profile relief. Shes featured wearing a Phrygian cap, a coronet crown, and a laurel wreath. The bottom of the coin is adorned with 13 stars. Inscriptions read LIBERTY, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and 1899.

Reverse

The reverse displays George T. Morgan’s majestic heraldic eagle design. The design depicts a bald eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Inscriptions on this field read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR, and IN GOD WE TRUST.

History

Introduced in 1878, Morgan Dollar Silver Coins were minted annually until 1904 and made a one-year return in 1921. The New Orleans Mint specifically produced these coins from 1879 to 1904, minting a total of 186 million Morgan Dollar Silver Coins. Crafted by former Assistant Engraver, George T. Morgan, its scarcity and rarity have grown in time due to the effects of circulation and the melting down of coins to extract precious metals.
