{{/presale}}One of the most impressive gold coins issued in the 20th century was a restrike bullion coin from the Austrian Mint. This centurys old mint revived a date mark with the image of Emperor Franz Joseph I on gold coins that honored the moment the Austro-Hungarian Empire adopted the gold standard. Provident Metals now has 1892 20 Francs/8 Florin Austrian Gold Coins available to you for purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase these 1892 20 Francs/8 Florin Austrian Gold Coins online at Provident Metals, you will receive a coin that is packaged in an individual protective plastic flip. These coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins showcase full, original mint luster, but can feature breaks in the luster and other minor flaws as a result of the normal production process.
Obverse
The obverse of 1892 Austrian Gold Coins features a portrait of Emperor Franz Joseph I. The longest-reigning and only monarch of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He is shown here in right-profile relief wearing a laurel wreath with his well-known facial hair. Inscriptions on this face of the coin denote the name of the leader and his title within the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 1892 20 Francs/8 Florin Austrian Gold Coins is an image of the coat of arms of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Based on the rule of the Hapsburg Dynasty, this seal features the shield of the Hapsburgs with a double-headed eagle behind the shield supporting the seal.
History
These coins come with a double face value. The first 20 Francs gold coin from Austrian was issued in 1870, but when the gold standard was adopted by the empire in 1892, coins of the Franc and Florin denomination were both issued by the Austrian Mint for use within the empire.
