{{/presale}}A true American classic, the Carson City Morgan Silver Dollar remains one of the most sought-after collectibles in the US Mints rich history. Receiving special attention are the GSA CC Morgans that have been graded by NGC while also preserving the original protective cases. Today, you have the chance to get certified 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins online from Provident Metals.
Coin Highlights:
When you order 1884-CC Morgan Dollar Coins in this online Provident Metals listing, you will receive an historic silver specimen that was originally struck at the Carson City Mint in Nevada. The coins will arrive to you in their original GSA holders, which were initially designed specifically for the hoard of CC Morgans discovered in US Treasury vaults in the 1960s. The coins also feature a label from NGC confirming their official grade of Mint State 65+. Bear in mind that MS65+ coins may appear in higher quality than a regular MS65.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollars, there is a bust of Lady Liberty. This portrait was inspired by a teacher named Anna Williams, who sat for George T. Morgan five times before he completed the design. Inscriptions on the obverse are included that read E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1884.
Reverse
The reverse of Morgan Silver Dollar Coins contains a modified heraldic eagle seal. Morgan updated this image by removing the shield on the eagles chest to give it a more symmetrical, life-like appearance. However, the classic olive branch and arrows in the talons are retained. Youll see inscriptions also on the reverse reading UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR, IN GOD WE TRUST. The Carson City mintmark can also be found on the reverse.
History
In 1884, 1,136,000 Morgan dollars were struck at the Carson City Mint. Of those, 962,000 were placed in the GSA protective holders. When the hoard of CC Morgans was discovered in the 1960s, the GSA staff began to sort through the millions of coins on hand. There were four categories in total, with the top three, Uncirculated, Mixed Carson City, and Circulated, all receiving the special plastic GSA cases.
