{{/presale}}The Morgan Dollar Silver Coin is one of the most popular collectible items in the 21st century. Struck by five branches of the United States Mint, the coins from the Carson City Mint are among the most sought-after specimens. In 1883, the mint issued some 1.2 million coins in total at Carson City. Provident Metals now has 1883-CC Morgan Dollar Silver Coins available to you for purchase online in certified condition.
Highlights:
When you purchase an 1883-CC Morgan Dollar Silver Coin online at Provident Metals, you will receive a coin that is in certified condition. Mint State 63 coins showcase impaired luster with several, small contact marks, a few hairlines visible without magnification, and the possibility of other minor scuffs.
Obverse
The obverse of the 1883-CC Morgan Dollar comes with an effigy of Liberty. This portrait of Lady Liberty was created for this coin series in 1878 by George T. Morgan and shows Liberty in left-profile relief with a Phrygian cap on, a coronet crown, and a laurel wreath. The field includes 13 stars along the bottom half of the edge and inscriptions of 1883 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
Reverse
On the reverse side of 1883-CC Morgan Dollar Silver Coins is a depiction of the heraldic eagle of the United States. The design shown here was created by Morgan as well and featured exclusively on the Morgan Dollars. It shows a front-facing bald eagle with the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons. The bird is framed by an oak-and-laurel wreath. The inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and ONE DOLLAR.
History
An astounding number of Morgan Dollars in uncirculated condition were found in the vaults of the US Treasury in the 1960s. Known as the GSA Hoard, after the Government Services Administration that audited the collection, these coins numbered some 3 million CC-Morgan Dollars. More than 62% of the original 1883 release from Carson City was discovered in the GSA Hoard.
