The SS Central America’s sinking was a pivotal moment in maritime history, claiming over 400 lives and causing a significant economic impact in setting off the Financial Panic of 1857. The panic led to the failure of numerous banks and financial institutions across the country. Many banks faced runs as panicked depositors sought to withdraw their funds, leading to widespread collapses.

Product Details

Your gold pinch comes from the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, where it lay undisturbed for over 130 years. The PCGS has certified its authenticity, ensuring you own a genuine piece of the SS Central America wreckage. Housed in a capsule within a protective plastic slab, your gold is not only secure but also comes with the assurance of its SS Central America origin.

History

Bank collapses were driven, in large part, by the sinking of the SS Central America. The gold in its cargo holds was destined for banks on the East Coast and its loss proved critical to bank collapses. Now, you can own a piece of this history with the 1857 SS Central America 1.5 Gram Gold Pinch, certified by the PCGS and encapsulated for protection.
