The Italian lira was one of the most popular and widely circulated gold coins of the late 19th and early 20th centuries on the European continent. The lira denomination was issued by the unified Kingdom of Italy starting in 1861, but its predecessor was the Sardinian lira that was adopted as a result of King Victor Emmanuel II of Sardinia being the driving force behind the unification of the Italian kingdoms. Right now, you can buy certified 1826 80 Lire Italian Sardinian Gold Coins online at Provident Metals.
