Each of these bars was individually cast and stamped at Scottsdale Mint. As such, youll note they have a more rough-hewn aesthetic that some investors find quite attractive. It also assures that no two bars will be alike.
Obverse
On the obverse face of 100 oz Long Cast Silver Bars youll see the bar hallmarks and the Scottsdale Mint logo. The logo, which is standard across all Scottsdale bars, consists of a lion wearing a crown. This regal design reinforces the mints prestigious status and high production standards. You will also see hallmarks on the obverse side that read SCOTTSDALE MINT, 100 TROY OZ, .999 FINE SILVER. In addition, a distinctive swirling line pattern can be seen on the obverse.
Reverse
The reverse of 100 oz Scottsdale Cast Silver Bars contains no visuals or text. However, you may notice various indentations and uneven texturing on the blank field. This is considered standard for the aesthetic appearance of cast bars.
History
Silver has a long history dating back roughly 5,000 years ago. Around 3,000 BC, the metal was first mined in what is presently considered Turkey. By 1200 BC, Greece had become one of the centers of silver mining, which helped expand its robust and advanced civilization. However, it wasnt until explorers discovered the Americas in the 15th century that silver mining truly took off. For the next three hundred years, approximately 85% of the worlds silver production came from regions of South America alone.
