Design

The waterfall drops approximately 212 feet, which is nearly 50 feet taller than Niagara Falls, making it one of the most impressive natural waterfalls on the continent. The falls span nearly 1,000 feet across at their widest point and were formed when the ancient Bonneville Flood carved through layers of basalt lava flows around 14,500 years ago. For many generations, the falls held cultural and spiritual importance for Indigenous peoples of the region, including the Shoshone-Bannock tribes.

History
