{{/presale}}Available for just 14 years, the Standing Liberty Quarter design was one that went through various design iterations in a short period of time. Standing Liberty replaced the Barber Coinage quarter design and was itself replaced by the effigy of President George Washington, the design still in use today. Right now, you can get the $100 Face Value 90% Standing Liberty Silver Quarters online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Your purchase of $100 Face Value of 90% Standing Liberty Silver Quarters features a plastic bag containing 400 individual quarters. Each quarter has 90% silver content and 10% copper content. Date marks in this series range from 1916 when the design was introduced to 1930 when the quarter was discontinued for a year. The individual quarters are in average circulated condition with varying levels of wear and tear noticeable.
Obverse
The obverse of 90% Standing Liberty Silver Quarters features Lady Liberty standing between a gap in a wall with a gown on and holding a shield in her left hand. Designed by Hermon Atkins MacNeil, the design includes inscriptions of Liberty, In God We Trust, and the date mark.
Reverse
On the reverse, 90% Standing Liberty Silver Quarters come with the image of an American bald eagle flying through the sky. The bird is in a glide in flight with inscriptions of United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and Quarter Dollar. There are also 13 stars on this side with seven to the left and six to the right of the design field.
History
The Hermon Atkins MacNeil design was one of the last to take on a militaristic depiction of Liberty in American history. Designed as World War I raged in Europe, but America remained neutral, the image of Liberty stands guard in the gap between a wall. She looks to her left with a wary eye on the raging war in Europe with a shield in that same hand signifying she is on duty and ready to defend the nation. Her other hand clutches an olive branch, a symbol of Americas desire to remain neutral and at peace. The Standing Liberty Silver Quarters went through three design changes in the early years. The original 1916 design featured a bare-chested Liberty while later design iterations added a chain-mail chest plate to her figure.
