{{/presale}}The World of Dragons Series offers six distinctive designs of dragons from world cultures. The designs of the series share a common reverse, but have unique designs on the obverse that showcase a cultural landmark along with a dragon often recorded in the cultural record of that same nation. For the fifth release in this series, Indias Taj Mahal features with an Indian dragon. Today, you have the opportunity to grab the fifth design in the 1 oz Silver World of Dragons The Indian Round from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Cultures around the world have unique origins for dragons in the historical record. The myths of these dragons often arise from the fears of the inhabitants of those regions. For example, most Western European nations viewed dragons as bringers of death and often showcased tales of brave knights facing off against those dragons to save the day. Indian culture has its own take on dragons.
Obverse
The obverse of 1 oz Silver World of Dragons The Indian Rounds features a serpent-like dragon slithering around the famed Taj Mahal. The dragon has the long body of the dragon slithers across the design field in the foreground, but has a massive head with large, powerful jaws. The Taj Mahal is in the background with an inscription of The Indian on the faade of the structure.
Reverse
On the reverse of 1 oz Silver World of Dragons The Indian Round, you will find the common design element in the series. The massive serpents eye stares directly at the viewer and has a piercing gaze with inscriptions of World of Dragons and One Troy Ounce 999 Fine Silver.
History
The Taj Mahal is known as the Crown of the Palaces and is a white-marble mausoleum. It was constructed along the Yamuna river near the city of Agra in India. Commissioned in 1632, the building serves as the tomb of the favorite wife of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. This fifth dragon in the series is known as the Indian and likely depicts Pakhangba, the supreme God of the Meetei tradition.
