Obverse
On the obverse of Silver MLB Kansas City Royals Rounds, the team logo is shown with a shield bearing the KC initials and a crown resting above. The combination of shield and crown reflects both the teams name and its royal-themed branding. Inscriptions include KANSAS CITY ROYALS and EST. 1969.
Reverse
The reverse of the 1 oz Silver Kansas City Royals Round includes the MLB logo. The iconic mark consists of a horizontal rectangle divided into two halves by a batters silhouette, with a small baseball positioned near the bat. Designed by Jerry Dior in 1968, it debuted on uniforms in 1969. Inscriptions read THM/MLB, ONE TROY OUNCE, and .999 FINE SILVER.
History
The Royals entered MLB in 1969 as an expansion team following the departure of the Athletics. The franchise quickly built a competitive roster, becoming a regular playoff presence in the late 1970s and 1980s and capturing the 1985 World Series title. After a long rebuilding period, Kansas City returned to the spotlight with its 2014 and 2015 World Series runs.
