Various civilizations from the ancient world had their own views on the shape and makeup of planet Earth. One of the commonalities among ancient Egyptians, Mesopotamians, Greeks, Indian, and other civilizations was the fact that the Earth was flat. At some point, it was believed, the waters of the oceans fell off the planet never to return. The Finding Silverbug Island Series showcases what this reality would have looked like in its latest design. Provident Metals currently offers the new 1 oz Silver Ends of the Earth Silverbug Island Round to purchase online.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with an individual plastic flip!
  • Recent 2019 design in the Finding Silverbug Island Series of silver rounds!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.
  • A sailboat finds itself close to the edge of the world as it navigates calm waters on the obverse.
  • Explorers hoping to find wealth have met with doom crashing on the shores of Silverbug Island.
  • IRA eligible silver rounds.

When you purchase a 1 oz Silver Ends of the Earth Silverbug Island Round at Provident Metals, the item you receive is brand-new from the North American Mint and arrives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The bullion version of each round in this series comes with an individual plastic flip to house the specimen.

Obverse

In the obverse design element, we get a glimpse of what the end of the world might have looked like in a reality where the Earth is flat. The 1 oz Silver Ends of the Earth Silverbug Island Rounds depict a sailboat enjoying a calm day on the waters under the warm embrace of the sun. As clouds dot the sky and the waters remain calm, just out of sight for the sailors is the end of the world where the water crashes over never to return. While the sailboat is not headed for the ends of the Earth, it is sailing a thin line between life and death.

Reverse

For the reverse design, the NA Mint uses the same design it has featured on all releases in the Finding Silverbug Island Series. The reverse of the 1 oz Silver Ends of the Earth Silverbug Island Round depicts an island of coins emerging from beneath the waves. In the foreground, unlucky sailors have crashed on the shoals of Silverbug Island while pursuing wealth. In the distance, another vessel no doubt considers whether it is worthwhile to get too close to Silverbug Island.

History

The Finding Silverbug Island collection of silver rounds debuted in 2015. Each design issued comes with a bullion, proof, and antique version for investors and collectors. While these bullion versions have no mintage cap, the other two versions have mintage limits.
