{{/presale}}Many famous phrases and concepts emerged from the American Revolution. Most Americans still deeply believe in the concept of no taxation without representation, a key driver in the American Revolution. Another saying that was popular in the colonial era was dont tread on me. This phrase is also still popular in the 21st century and has appeared on various cultural items such as flags. Today, you can own a silver round inspired by the Gadsden flag with the Dont Tread on Me 1 oz Silver Shield Round available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The phrase Dont Tread on Me was a more aggressive twist on the broader concepts that initiated the American Revolution. While taxation by the distant parliament of Great Britain, in which American colonists had no representation, was the main driver behind the war, Dont Tread on Me became a popular, defiant phrase against the tyranny of distant rulers.
Obverse
For the obverse of the Dont Tread on Me 1 oz Silver Shield Round, the Golden State Mint uses the image of a coiled rattlesnake. The slithering serpent is anything but docile in this depiction as its rattle is raised and the upper portion of its body poised to strike. The snake exposes its fangs and has its forked tongue out as it hisses to let you know its ready to hit out at you. Dont Tread On Me is engraved along the top.
Reverse
The reverse field of all silver rounds in the Silver Shield Collection from GSM features the same design element. Here, you will find a single sword standing on its tip with an ornate background field design. Flames encircle the very outer edge of the design field, with inscriptions identifying the series of issue, as well as the weight, metal content, and purity of the round.
History
The Dont Tread on Me 1 oz Silver Shield Round is part of the broader Silver Shield Collection. Some of the silver round designs in this series are continually produced from one year to the next, while others are only issued on a limited basis. The Silver Dont Tread On Me Rounds in this listing could come with a variety of date marks reflecting the continued production of these rounds in the series.
