{{/presale}}The Buffalo Nickel design is not just one of the most popular in American history, it is also one of the most replicated as well. The design was originally featured on the US nickel from 1913 to 1938, and today features on everything from official bullion coins from the US Mint to silver and copper bullion products from private mints. Provident Metals currently has 1 oz Silver Buffalo Bars available to you for purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase a 1 oz Silver Buffalo Bar in this product listing at Provident Metals, we offer the products in new condition as released by SilverTowne. The bars are packaged individually inside of sealed protective plastic sleeves. The bars are also available to purchase in multiples of 20 sealed together in sheets or in boxes of 500 containing 25 sheets of 20 bars each.
Obverse
A stoic Native American figure is shown in right-profile relief on the obverse side of 1 oz Silver Buffalo Bars. This figure was created in 1913 by James Earle Fraser using real-life tribal figures as inspiration for the relief. The inscriptions on this face of the bar include Liberty and 1 oz .999 Fine Silver.
Reverse
The American bison is featured on the reverse side of the 1 oz Silver Buffalo Bar. Fraser used Black Diamond, a resident of the Central Park Zoo in New York City during the early 20th century, as inspiration for his design of the buffalo. The American bison shown here is in right-profile relief, the opposite of Frasers original left-profile depiction of the bison. The animal is shown standing on a small mound of dirt with inscriptions of United States of America and In God We Trust.
History
The Buffalo Nickel was in production at the US Mint from 1913 to 1938. In 2006, the US Mint revived the images for use on the new American Buffalo Gold bullion coin, the first-ever gold coin from the mint with 24-karat gold content. Private mints such as SilverTowne continue to issue the designs as well, featuring the two images together and separately on products ranging from silver and copper rounds to silver and copper bars.
