{{/presale}}There are few periods of the year filled with more joy and time with family than Christmas. Although the Christmas season is primarily celebrated by the billions of Christians around the world, it is also a national holiday in several countries and widely observed in other nations and among other groups along with other holidays that fall at the end of the calendar year. Today, you have the opportunity to get 1 oz Silver 2020 Christmas Village Rounds online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
While many Christians will today wish one another a jovial season by saying Merry Christmas, the celebration itself and this greeting were not merged together until the 19th and early-20th centuries. Though the first Christmas celebration recorded in the written record in 313 CE, the term Merry Christmas is much newer. One of the first written uses of the term came from a Royal Navy admiral in 1699 in a personal letter. In 1843, Charles Dickens used the phrase in A Christmas Carol. That same year saw the introduction of the first-ever Christmas card.
Obverse
On the obverse field of 1 oz Silver 2020 Christmas Village Rounds is a depiction of a humble village as it gathers to mark the Christmas season. There is a small church at the center of the village with a large Christmas tree nearby. A small circle of villagers have gathered near the tree to sing carols and revel in the Christmas season as the tree is lit for the first time. The snowy scene in the town gives way to other details in the background, such as ice skaters on a frozen pond and two deer in a meadow in the distant background. The only inscription on this face of the round is the date of 2020.
Reverse
The reverse face of 1 oz Silver 2020 Christmas Village Rounds includes one large snowflake in the center of the design field, accompanied by a variety of other snowflakes. Around the outer rim of the design field is a border of holly, a staple plant of the holiday season. There is an inscription along the top that reads One Troy Ounce .999 Fine Silver.
History
Christmas was first celebrated, in the written record, in 313 CE in the Roman Empire during the reign of Emperor Constantine, the first Christian emperor who made Christianity the official religion of the empire. Pope Julius I made December 25th the official date of celebration for Christmas in the 4th century.
