{{/presale}}The first silver bullion round marketed in the US was the 1982 Engelhard Prospector. This single round of gorgeous silver went on to inspire a collection that both investors and collectors coveted. With limited mintages and beautiful imagery, this remarkable round is like no other. Today, Provident Metals offers you the 1 oz Silver 1985 Prospector Round (Eagle Reverse design)!
Round Highlights:
A Prospector is a person who searches for gold and other forms of mineral resources in a variety of areas. The Engelhard Company struck gold with the release of their Engelhard Prospector Series which was first released in 1982. It would go on to be a dominating force in the US markets, beating the likes of Handy &Harman and Johnson-Matthey in the fight to win over collectors and investors of precious metals. The collection became one of the most well-known series in the US because of contradictory imagery. The silver round showcases an old man digging for gold!
Obverse
For the obverse of the 1 oz Silver 1985 Prospector Round, the contradictory but legendary image of a Prospector is engraved. Commonly, a prospector is someone who digs for the most gorgeous of natural minerals like gold. Yet here on the surface of a silver round, you will see the design of an old man looking for such. The inscriptions on this side of the round include: U.S.A 1985, and The American Prospector. A circle of beads surrounds the whole design.
Reverse
For the reverse of the 1 oz Silver 1985 Prospector Round, the image of an American Eagle is engraved. Unlike other silver products in production, the design of the Eagle is reversed. It depicts an American Eagle in flight while it clutches onto a branch. Its wings spread far out while it engulfs the majority of the round with its size and magnificence. The inscriptions on this side of the round include: Engelhard, and One Troy Ounce 999+Fine Silver. The outer rim of the round is decorated with a beaded circle like the obverse.
