Johnson Matthey began in London in 1817 and quickly became a key name in precious-metals refining. Known worldwide for their platinum bars, Johnson Matthey exited the precious-metals industry in late 2015, ending production of these bars. However, investors and collectors can still find original Secondary Market pieces today. Right now, 1 oz Platinum Bars from Johnson Matthey are available at Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Ships in protective plastic!
  • Prooflike appearance!
  • Genuine Johnson Matthey platinum bars!
  • Contains 1 troy oz of .9995 pure platinum.
  • Obverse shows the Johnson Matthey logo and product details.
  • Reverse includes a repeating JM pattern.

Every 1 oz Platinum Bar here is a Secondary Market item secured by Provident Metals from sources other than the original manufacturer. Some Secondary Market products may show light handling marks, though each retains its full platinum content and purity.

Design

On the obverse of these Platinum Bar, the JM logo appears prominently at the top, followed by the Johnson Matthey name. Below that, youll find the bars weight, purity level, and metal type clearly displayed. The reverse side of each 1 oz Platinum Bar comes with a repeating JM initials pattern, a classic design element that makes these bars easy to identify while keeping the look simple and timeless. The inscriptions on the obverse read JOHNSON MATTHEY, ASSAYERS & REFINERS, PLATINUM, 9995, and 1 OUNCE TROY.

History

As the 20th century advanced, Johnson Mattheys platinum expertise grew along with the global demand for automotive catalysts and industrial applications. Their platinum bars became known around the world for quality and precision, often trusted by institutional buyers and banks.
