{{/presale}}Today, the United States Air Force has a reputation for dominating the skies during conflicts. The rich tradition of American airpower dates back to World War II and the development of some of the worlds most potent fighters and powerful bombers. First developed in 1940, the P-51 Mustang would go on to become the dominant fighter in the skies from Europe to the Pacific. Provident Metals currently offers 1 oz Copper P-51 Mustang Rounds to you for purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase one of these 1 oz Copper P-51 Mustang Rounds online at Provident Metals, you will receive new copper rounds from the mint that are packaged individually or in bulk. Individual copper rounds come with flips from the mint. Multiples of the rounds are available to purchase in protective tubes of 20 rounds or boxes of 500 copper rounds. The average box holds a total of 25 individual tubes of 20 rounds each.
Obverse
On the obverse of the Copper P-51 Mustang Round is a depiction of the mighty fighter. Set against a backdrop of sun rays, the P-51 soars through the design element with the well-known markings of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. This includes the stripe and circle with a US star at the center. The inscriptions on this side include P-51 MUSTANG and MADE IN USA.
Reverse
The reverse side of 1 oz Copper P-51 Mustang Rounds comes with a common design element from the mint. Used across various collections, this design includes a version of the US national shield with the spread wings of an eagle behind the shield to support it. The design element includes a version of the American flag above the shield and wings. Inscriptions on this side read COPPER .999 FINE and ONE AVDP OUNCE.
History
When the P-51 Mustang was initially built, its performance primarily relegated it to the role of a tactical reconnaissance plane and fighter-bomber. However, after two upgrades to its engines, the installation of Packard engines with the development of the P-51 D Mustang resulted in an aircraft with incredible climb rates, a higher altitude ceiling, and the long-range ability to escort American and British bombers on raids across the continent.
