The 12 Labors of Hercules series from Provident Metals continues with the release of the 1 oz Copper Mares of Diomedes. Each round has been manufactured at the Provident Mint with a composition of .999 fine copper. As an ISO9001 certified facility, the mint produced each Herculean round using the highest quality production standards.

King Eurystheus tasked Hercules with bringing back the man-eating mares of diomedes as his eighth labor. The horses, which were owned and trained by King Diomedes of Thrace, were known for eating human flesh. Some legends say they were capable of breathing fire as well.

To capture the stallions, Hercules fought and defeated King Diomedes before feeding him to the horses — food was said to calm them down. The Greek hero then bound their mouths and walked them back to Eurystheus to complete his task.

The carnivorous horses can be seen stampeding together on the reverse of the 1 oz Copper Mares of Diomedes Rounds. With their mouths open and mane flowing, the mares are displayed in an aggressive position on the left-facing design. Inscriptions read “MARES OF DIOMEDES” and “VII” around the image.

Hercules is portrayed on the obverse wearing the Nemean Lion as armor on his head, and clutching a wooden club in his hand. This round’s weight and purity are inscribed along the rim to the left of the portrait of Hercules.

Each of these pieces has been manufactured using the highest production quality and metal purity standards, making the Mares of Diomedes Copper Round an excellent investment in Copper Bullion. All individual Mares of Diomedes orders will be packaged in plastic flips for optimum protection. Multiples of 20 will ship in plastic tubes, and quantities of 500 will be shipped in a Provident Metals Plum Monster Box.

Follow Hercules’ lead and capture these Mares of Diomedes rounds — all while keeping your collection intact. Buy 1 oz Copper Mares of Diomedes from Provident Metals in just a few short clicks, or by calling us today.
