{{/presale}}Cryptozoology is the informal, scientific study of creatures that are believed by many to be mythical. The field of cryptozoology has brought greater awareness to the possibility of beasts such as the Yeti, the Jersey Devil, and countless other beasts that many assume are works of fictional writers and nightmares. The new Cryptid Creatures Series of copper rounds puts these beasts front and center in an impressive series. Today, you have the opportunity to get 1 oz Copper Cryptid Creatures The Jersey Devil Copper Rounds online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Cryptid is a term that is used to describe animals whose existence in the wild is questionable. While cryptozoologists believe that these creatures exist, mainstream scientists are extremely skeptical of the existence of these beasts. Creatures such as the Bigfoot, Abominable Snowman, Jersey Devil, Chupacabra, and the Loch Ness Monster are frequently talked about in cryptozoological circles, but often chalked up to misidentification in mainstream circles.
Obverse
On the obverse side of Copper Cryptid Creatures The Jersey Devil Rounds, you will find the horrifying Jersey Devil. This beast has a long tail similar to a dragon, with the body of a horse and the head of a goat. The large wings of the Jersey Devil are said to be dragon- or bat-like in nature. The history of the Jersey Devil dates to 1735 when local folklore in Pine Barrens, South Jersey, stated that Mrs. Jane Leeds cursed her 13th child as a result of the difficult pregnancy it put her through. Although the child was born normal, it eventually transformed into this horrifying beast and terrified the people of the countryside. The house in the background has 13 notches, representing that 13th child of Mrs. Leads. Inscriptions include THE JERSEY DEVIL and the Osborne Mint mint mark.
Reverse
The reverse field of the 1 oz Copper The Jersey Devil Round features the Osborne Mints common background design element. This visual element includes a tattered American flag above a set of haggard eagles wings that flank the chipped and worn-out US national shield. The design is meant to have a spooky feel, making it a great gift or investment at Halloween. Inscriptions include COPPER .999 FINE, CRYPTID CREATURES, and ONE AVDP OUNCE.
History
The Jersey Devil is so established within the culture of the eastern states, and New Jersey in particular, that the local NHL franchise in New Jersey has adopted the name for its mascot. The team is known as the New Jersey Devils.
