{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The Xuanhua dragon is a distinctive creature in Chinese art, often associated with the painted ceilings of tombs in the Xuanhua region of Hebei Province. These artistic depictions date back to the Liao (9071125) and Jin (11151234) dynasties and are known for their flowing, elongated bodies, ornate scale details, and bold color contrasts. Now, you can find 1 oz Colorized Silver Xunhu Dragon Bars from Scottsdale Mint available online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 1 oz Colorized Silver Xunhu Dragon Bar comes housed in an acrylic capsule for safekeeping. These bars represent the fifth entry in the Scottsdale Mints Colorized Dragon Series. Though no set mintage limit applies, production of each design is time-limited before a new bar is introduced.
Obverse
On the obverse of the Colorized Silver Xuanhua Dragon Bar, the Xuanhua dragon is featured in a bold, detailed design. The dragon has dense fur, whiskers extending from its face, and large antlers. The colorization includes blends of pink, white, and blue to highlight the creatures textured fur and body shape.
Reverse
The reverse of the 1 oz Colorized Silver Xunhu Dragon Bar displays the Scottsdale Mints iconic Lion design. This front-facing lion has a flowing mane and wears a regal crown. The mints emblem is surrounded by inscriptions that note the bars weight, purity, and other identifiers. Inscriptions here include 1 TR OZ, 999 FINE SILVER, and SCOTTSDALE MINT.
History
Unlike later Chinese dragons associated with imperial power, the Xuanhua dragons are often portrayed in active, unique stances and shown alongside other fantastical figures. Excavations in Xuanhua suggest these dragons had symbolic value as spiritual guardians, guiding the souls of the deceased into the afterlife. The artistic work seen in these tombs shows exceptional technique and cultural significance.
