Highlights:
When you purchase one of these 1 oz Silver Antique Soldier Bullion Series Greaseman Gary Rounds online at Provident Metals, you will receive a round that is housed in a protective blistercard. The rounds come with an antique polish that creates a sense of visual aging on the round. The Certificate of Authenticity details for the round are included on the card.
Obverse
On the obverse of Silver Antique Greaseman Gary Rounds, you will find the image of Greaseman Gary in right-profile relief. Gary is operating an M3 submachine gun on the battlefield as smoke billows in the background field. The lone inscription beneath this image of Gary is GREASEMAN GARY.
Reverse
The reverse face of the 1 oz Silver Antique Greaseman Gary Rounds comes with the common Soldier Bullion star design. Used on all rounds in the series, this image features a five-pointed star in the center with a field of light rays behind it. The words SOLDIER BULLION are at the center of the star, with ONE OUNCE 999 SILVER engraved below.
History
The M3 submachine gun used by Greaseman Gary was known to American soldiers during World War II as the Grease Gun or the Greaser, hence the development of Garys name for this design release. The gun resembled an auto mechanics grease gun and was used extensively by American forces during the latter years of World War II, the Korean War, and the early years of the Vietnam War. Other forces around the world continued the use of later variants of the M3 in conflicts such as the Falklands War, the Soviet-Afghan War, the Iran-Iraq War, and even the more recent Syrian Civil War.
