{{/presale}}One of the most popular American presidents, as time has passed, is George Washington. Founding Father, Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army, President of the United States; George Washington did it all. In 1932, on the 200th anniversary of his birth, the nation honored him by placing his effigy on the US Quarter. It remains there to this day, but theres something special about the releases from 1932 to 1964. Right now, you can buy a $1 Face Value bag of 90% Silver Washington Quarters online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
If you purchase the $1 Face Value of 90% Silver Washington Quarters in this product listing, you will receive your items in a small bag. The bag will contain a total of four US Quarters, each one with the Washington effigy on the obverse. Only those coins issued from 1932 to 1964 have 90% silver content with a balance of 10% copper. As noted above, it is possible you will receive varying date marks on your coins. You could receive four different date marks, four of the same year, or any combination in between.
Obverse
On the obverse face of the 90% Silver Washington Quarters, you will find the left-profile bust of President George Washington. This design has not been altered at its core since 1932 when John Flanagan designed it using a 1786 bust of Washington as inspiration for his design. Only minor modifications to Washingtons appearance have occurred, along with changes in the inscriptions on this side of the coins.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 90% Silver Washington Quarters bears an image of the American bald eagle. The national emblem of the United States of America, the bald eagle is featured here in front-facing relief with a sheaf of arrows in its talons with an olive branch wrapped around the sheaf of arrows. Flanagan also designed this element for the Washington Quarter.
History
Abraham Lincoln was the first former president to appear on a coin, with his bust going onto the copper penny starting in 1909 to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth. Congress had been advised about replacing the Walking Liberty Half Dollar design for just one year in 1932 to honor Washington. Instead, it opted to permanently replace the suspended Standing Liberty design on the quarter with a bust of Washington.
